From Virginia thru West Virginia to Kentucky and Illinois...
Well, the Luke & Clarke Expedition got under way and we made it through the first leg of our adventure. We meandered through West Virginia and into Kentucky. How the settlers got through West Virginia and Eastern Kentucky is a marvel!
We spent the first night in Lexington, Kentucky at a dog friendly Hampton Inn on Elkhorn Road. The next morning Clarke & I got into a bit of a disagreement (don't tell me Lewis & Clark didn't have their disagreements). I wanted to take the Kentucky Thoroughbred Trail and ol' Jones wanted to take the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. Fortunately I won this debate and we wound up at Dream Chase Farm which is the only Thoroughbred stallion retirement non-profit home in the US.

Clarke got a little confused when he heard this and asked if there were any rooms available. That's me pictured with Wallenda which earned $1,205,929.00 in only 33 starts. Another stallion Popcorn, who lives there, was one of the horses used in the movie "Seabiscuit". You will notice I am sitting in Blue Grass but it still looks green to me. We also made an unplanned stop because my driver saw a sign that said Bull Sale and he thought he could pick up some extra cash because he has been told he had plenty of it. Turns out it was a different kind of bull.
