The Westin in Lombard, Illinois near Chicago just opened the week we arrived and it is an 18 story beauty and we were the first ones to stay in our room since it opened. Clean everything and very dog friendly. We were on the 6th floor and it was my first elevator ride! Almost had an embarrassing moment with that, but got used to it after a while. As I said, this Westin is new and dog friendly. They furnished me a dog bed, a new collar and leash, a hug from the cute receptionist and baby powder scented "mistake" bags. I didn't need them, but I thought ol' Jones was going to need one after he got the bill from Harrey Carey's restaurant which is in the hotel!
Luke slept like a puppy in his heavenly bed at the Westin in Lombard, IL.
The next morning we headed west and you have photos of me crossing the Mississippi River on our way to Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Now if you like to see corn fields, that is all you are gonna see from Illinois to Wisconsin to Indiana to Minnesota. Had no idea you guys make so much of the stuff!
Luke decided to take a break by the Mississippi River.
If you are planning on taking a long trip with a guy like me make sure you stop every once in a while to give us some water and a break. Jones will drive forever without stopping. He must have a lot of will power or more than two kidneys.
Also, you might notice a guy like me might seem to shed more than normal on these trips. You've got to remember that new smells, different rooms etc. can be kinda stressful. Jones was complaining about my shedding and I asked him if he had checked his forehead lately! He said a large forehead was a sign of superior intelligence. If that's so, that boy is getting smarter by the day!
